This course provides a foundation for understanding key approaches to strategic management. Strategic management deals with decisions that fundamentally affect the direction of an organization as well as the effective implementation of these decisions. Strategic management addresses the organization's strategic positioning and organizational resources and capabilities as well as competitive environments and dynamics. The goal of strategic management is to create and capture value and develop a competitive advantage. This course is designed to help students understand strategic perspectives and challenges and to make informed strategic decisions.

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, plus self-directed study by students.  Total study hours: 100 hours split between lectures, self-study and preparation for classes and coursework.

By the end of the course, unit students will have a larger set of analytical tools and will have gained more experience in analysing real-world business able to critically evaluate the notion of strategydiffering perspectives on strategic management, to explain how a firms strategic actions are it is shaped by factors inside -/ and outside of organizations.
