Overview

Leadership skills are a core component of healthcare professional practice. In this unit, participants will explore the theory and practice of leadership, motivation, coaching, negotiation, stress management and safety leadership. Participants will undertake a series of practical exercises and assignments during which they identify and reflect on their own strengths and development needs, and apply their knowledge to case studies that reflect their future practice.

The topics covered in this course unit are mapped to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s leadership competency framework. A particular emphasis of the unit will be on applying these topics to the promotion of patient safety and staff wellbeing.
