Overview
The Student Development Programme is a unit designed around your needs in developing the skills you will use while studying while simultaneously facilitating your individual goal setting and connecting you with supportive university services. The unit includes weekly seminars, that you will see in your timetable and an online resource. The timetabled sessions include a combination of active student seminars, guest lectures and peer assisted study support otherwise known as PASS. The Student Development Programme is an integral part of each of the three years of the Public Health Programme.
Aims
The Student Development Programme unit is a mandatory unit and part of each year of the BSc Public Health. During the unit you will develop a variety of skills to explicitly support you. The unit is responsive to the needs of you as a cohort and there are opportunities to co-design the unit content with the unit lead.

Teaching and learning methods
The seminars use a variety of techniques to engage learners, dependent upon the content. Some of the seminars are a workshop style where there are opportunities to practice a skill and receive peer feedback, guest lectures take more of a question-and-answer format.
On-campus students only
Academic engagement includes lectures, seminars, workshops and other face to face activities. To achieve the intended learning outcomes for this course unit, we have created a range of activities. Along with the Programme Director Seminar Series this unit connects both skills and knowledge essential for studying public health. Ongoing consultation with students and the tutor team will identify further needs for which academic engagement activities will be provided.
Distance/blended learning students only
Students on this mode of study will have the opportunity to study synchronously with the on-campus students and asynchronously via recorded sessions and online resources.
