Coronavirus advice for parents and supporters
During these difficult times we wanted to make sure, as a parent and carer, you have access to useful information and resources to help you as someone who is supporting a young person with their progression to university.
We want to reassure you that the University is doing all it can to ensure minimal disruption to our applicants, offer-holders and students. We've pulled together information relevant for the parents, carers and supporters of young people (in the UK and overseas) who have either applied to study at the University this year or who are thinking of applying to study with us next year.
Teaching of our current students
We've taken the action to temporarily move our teaching online and to close all non-essential areas of our campus. All courses are continuing to run.
We want to reassure you that making sure all of our students have the correct support is a real focus for us and during these challenging times student support is an ongoing focus.
Events for prospective undergraduate students and offer-holders
We've cancelled on-campus events for prospective students and applicants for now. Instead we're delivering a series of virtual events, including a virtual open week and Manchester Live webinars – all designed to provide information, advice and guidance for prospective students, applicants and their parents.
You may have some concerns regarding financial support for your son/daughter if they're starting university this year. The Student Loans Company has issued some guidance for prospective students and answered common questions relating to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Frequently asked questions
If your son/daughter is currently holding an offer to study at the University or is thinking about making an application to study, you may have some questions and concerns regarding the ongoing coronavirus outbreak and how it will impact their university journey. To address some of these questions, we've developed a set of frequently asked questions and would encourage you and your son/daughter to have a look at them.
