Science and Innovation Audit Report for Greater Manchester and Cheshire East

Read the report from the Science and Innovation Audit Report for Greater Manchester and Cheshire East, sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), launched on 3 November 2016.

In autumn 2015 the UK government announced regional Science and Innovation Audits (SIAs) to catalyse a new approach to regional economic development.

SIAs enable local consortia to focus on analysing regional strengths and identify mechanisms to realise their potential. In Greater Manchester and Cheshire East, a consortium was formed to focus on our strengths in health innovation, advanced materials, energy, digital and biotechnology.

This report, launched on 3 November 2016, presents the results which includes broad-ranging analysis of the regions' capabilities, the challenges and the substantial opportunities for future economic growth. You can download the full report below.

The report was launched by Business and Energy Secretary Greg Clark in a speech at the Innovate 2016 conference. In his speech, he explained how innovation, which helps local businesses grow, will be a key component of the government’s upcoming industrial strategy.
