International community and societies
The University of Manchester has students from 160 countries worldwide, making for an exciting and multicultural atmosphere. There are many organisations and societies dedicated to ensuring that you make the most of your time in the UK.
The International Society
The International Society is an independent, not-for-profit organisation unique to Manchester. Based on Oxford Road, it provides a social and supportive environment for all international students.
Students’ Union’s international societies
The University of Manchester Students' Union is home to many international societies which are run by students. They allow students of similar nationalities and/or faiths to meet informally. Most societies organise events (socials) and other activities.
Athletic Union
The Athletic Union has more than 40 clubs and almost 2,000 members, and welcomes students of all sporting abilities. Playing sports is one of the best ways to make the most of your time at university. It's also a good way to make friends and get fit.
Other societies
In addition to international societies, the Students' Union is home to a wide range of other social groups.
