MA Creative Writing

For entry in the academic year beginning September 2027, the tuition fees are as follows:

• MA (full-time)
  UK students (per annum): £14,400
  International, including EU, students (per annum): £29,800
• MA (part-time)
  UK students (per annum): £7,200
  International, including EU, students (per annum): £14,900

The fees quoted above are fully inclusive of tuition, administration and computational costs.

Fees for entry are subject to yearly review. The University reserves the right to increase your tuition fee by up to 7% each year for courses lasting more than one year, including to reflect rising costs associated with delivering our educational and wider student experience. International student CAS deposit

Self-funded international applicants are required to pay a deposit of £2500 towards their tuition fees before a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) is issued. Some applicants will be required to pay a higher deposit. More information on tuition fee deposits .

All students should normally be able to complete their programme of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that programme. Any unavoidable additional compulsory costs totalling more than 1% of the annual home undergraduate fee per annum, regardless of whether the programme in question is undergraduate or postgraduate taught, will be made clear to you at the point of application. This course will build on the knowledge and skills developed in Poetry Workshop I. The focus will again be on reading and critiquing work-in-progress, and most class time will be devoted to this. Students will be encouraged to further develop and refine their own work with an eye towards producing their final portfolio over the summer

Only available to students on the MA in Creative Writing

'To further develop students' critical reading skills, so they are able to offer clear and constructive feedback on work-in-progress
-To enable students to develop the knowledge and confidence to successfully produce a final portfolio of twenty to twenty five poems
-To further develop students' awareness and understanding of the formal and thematic traditions of poetry in English.
-To encourage students to improve their own writing by responding intelligently and selectively to a variety of feedback.

'Offer feedback on work-in-progress, which is intelligent and useful and which demonstrates and understanding of the range and traditions of poetry in English
-Understand and make use of a range of poetic forms and techniques
-Recognise the typical strengths and weaknesses of their own writing so as to be able to more effectively revise and improve their work in response to feedback
-Confidently embark on the writing of a final portfolio.
