Fees

For entry in the academic year beginning September 2026, the tuition fees are as follows:

  • MSc (full-time)
    UK students (per annum): £14,700 year 1, £7,350 year 2 (22,050.00 on offer letter)
    International, including EU, students (per annum): £38,400 year 1, £19,200 year 2 (£57,600.00 on offer letter)

The fees quoted above will be fully inclusive for the course tuition, administration and computational costs during your studies.

All fees for entry will be subject to yearly review and incremental rises per annum are also likely over the duration of courses lasting more than a year for UK/EU students (fees are typically fixed for International students, for the course duration at the year of entry). Self-funded international applicants for this course will be required to pay a deposit of £1000 towards their tuition fees before a confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) is issued. This deposit will only be refunded if immigration permission is refused. We will notify you about how and when to make this payment.

Policy on additional costs

All students should normally be able to complete their programme of study without incurring additional study costs over and above the tuition fee for that programme. Any unavoidable additional compulsory costs totalling more than 1% of the annual home undergraduate fee per annum, regardless of whether the programme in question is undergraduate or postgraduate taught, will be made clear to you at the point of application. Overview

The student will carry out a programme of work in line with a project area which is set in advance, and will write and submit a dissertation report on the subject of this project. 

Aims

To educate students in reseach and state of the art approaches, with intense training in research methods, advanced simulation tools and experimental techniques. Graduates will be prepared for PhD study or a career in reseach and development to address current and future needs which require research input. 

Learning outcomes

ILO2 - Describe and evaluate the solution and its theoretical and practical significance.

ILO3 - Design an appropriate solution.

ILO4 - Appraise critically the project, indicating the rationale for the proposed solution, lessons learned during the course of the project, and evaluation of the solution and methodology used.

ILO6 - Analyse a problem and the relevant literature or practical context.

ILO7 - Describe and evaluate the methodology used.
