Coronavirus information for applicants and offer-holders
We understand that prospective students and offer-holders may have concerns about the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. The University is following the advice from Universities UK, Public Health England and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The aim of the course is to ensure that students in the first semester of work on their Undergraduate dissertations acquire learning and production skills that may not have been acquired at lower levels, and which, alongside skills previously acquired, will enable them to develop a dissertation proposal.
Learning outcomes
On successfully completing the course, students will be able to achieve the following at the appropriate academic level: exercise judgement on the suitability of subjects for a final year dissertation; devise and discriminate between different models of work, including working with local sources, working in different kinds of libraries and archives, critically discriminating between primary and secondary published sources, developing techniques significant in the study of modern and contemporary art, which may include interview techniques and the evaluation of oral history. Students will develop methods of mutual support by commenting on and evaluating one another's work.
