Year of entry: 2020

Academic entry qualification overview

MSc qualification: You will need a UK lower-class (2.2) Honours degree in a Science, Engineering or Technology field, or equivalent international degree.

English language

Students will need to be able to demonstrate competency in the English language and students who do not already possess a recognised English language qualification will need to take a test such as IELTS or TOEFL and attain a minimum of IELTS 6.5 (with at least 6 in listening and writing and 5.5 in reading and speaking), TOEFL (internet based): speaking - 20, reading - 20, writing - 22, listening - 22, overall 90.                                        

If you do not currently have an English language qualification at the required level then it may be possible to arrange a pre-sessional course, the duration of which will depend on your current English language qualification. English language test validity

Some English language test results are only valid for two years. Your English language test report must be valid on the start date of the course.

Normally overseas students will need a UKVI IELTS to gain entry on to a pre-sessional English course. If you wish to apply for a pre-sessional course and you do not have a UKVI IELTS, please contact the Department of Materials at pg-materials@manchester.ac.uk.

Students who do not require a visa can provide a non-UKVI IELTS for entry on to a pre-sessional course.
