Receiving results

After you’ve applied to study at Manchester you may need to wait until you receive your examination results before we can confirm your place.

Results that we automatically find out

If you are studying any of the following qualifications, we will receive an electronic copy of your results directly from the awarding body.

  • GCE A-levels and/or AS levels
  • Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)
    • Advanced and Advanced Subsidiary
    • Pre-U Diploma and Certificate
  • BTEC qualifications
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • SQA qualifications
  • Irish Leaving Certificate
  • Advanced Diploma and Progression Diploma
  • Welsh Baccalaureate

Results that you will need to tell us about

For all examinations that don’t appear in the above list, please send an official copy of your examination results to the appropriate School admissions office by 31 August. Results can be posted, faxed or attached to an email, but we must receive official copies as soon as you receive them. If you expect your examination results to arrive any later than this, please contact the academic School to which you have applied as soon as possible.

If you got the right grades

If you meet all of the conditions of your offer, you will be notified by UCAS and our academic School will confirm your place. You can check the status of your application via UCAS Track.

If your grades are lower than expected

Even if your results are slightly below our offer, it is still possible that we award you a place on your original choice of course. We may alternatively offer you a place on a different course.

However, as many of our programmes are extremely popular, there will usually be little flexibility in considering lower grades.
