Travel by train

Getting to the University couldn’t be easier. To plan your journey by train, please visit the National Rail website (there are also potential group discounts available from most operators and Virgin Trains).

For visitors travelling via Piccadilly train station, student ambassadors will be there to greet you and give you walking directions to our Oxford Rd campus (around a 20-minute walk away). You’ll also see our ambassadors in their purple hoodies or T-shirts along the route so you don’t get lost.

You can also download the walking map (PDF document, 131KB), which outlines the route from Piccadilly station to campus.

The University will be operating a shuttle service running at regular intervals between Piccadilly station and our Oxford Road campus. This service is free of charge and will depart from outside Manchester Piccadilly train station, opposite the taxi rank. Student ambassadors will be present at the station to direct you as you arrive until 12 noon.

If you arrive via Oxford Road train station our campus is a short 10 to 15-minute walk away.

If Victoria station is your arrival point, then you can take a bus from Shudehill Interchange (a five-minute walk from Victoria station) and travel on the 18 bus from Stand E (the bus marked Manchester Royal Infirmary). This will drop you right in the heart of campus. For further information on buses from Shudehill Interchange, please visit their destination finder.

Another alterative bus route is from Piccadilly gardens, where you catch one of the many frequent buses (numbers 41, 42, 43, 142, 143) to campus. Piccadilly Gardens is approximately a ten-minute walk from Victoria station.
