Bedrooms and bathrooms

Hulme Hall is one of our more historic residences, with its origins dating back to 1907. The hall consists of seven blocks, the oldest Houldsworth, was built in 1907, with Oaklands, Christie, Greenwood, Plymouth and Birley added in 1967. There are around 300 bedrooms in this hall.

Hulme Hall is a corridor-style accommodation with shared bathrooms, which are cleaned by our facilities team each week. There are typically five showers, five toilets and five sinks shared between 20 bedrooms.

Bedrooms have a single bed (190x90cm), wash basins, wardrobe and drawers. The rooms also include a dedicated study area with a desk, shelves and desk chair.

Why choose Hulme Hall?

Hulme Hall is a catered hall, with breakfast and dinner served seven days a week during term time. You'll also have access to a fully equipped kitchen to prepare meals. Please note that postgraduate rooms in Hulme Hall are self-catered.

Hulme Hall has a pleasant community atmosphere with beautiful gardens around the hall. There is a lively student community that organises social events and activities throughout the year.

The prices quoted are for 25/26. Prices for catered halls include the cost of catering.

    Utility bills, internet and contents insurance are included. As a catered hall, your rent also covers two meals a day, every day (term-time only).

    All halls have access to washing machines and dryers (online payment via Circuit Laundry).

    You'll have access to high-speed WiFi in all hall areas.

    The University has a dedicated, first-aid trained security team available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This hall is approximately 0.8 miles from the centre of campus, University Place.

  • 17-minute walk via Oxford Road and Whitworth Park.
  • 5-minute cycle: Oxford Road offers protected cycle routes.
  • 12-minute bus journey

Unique support on hand

At Manchester, you’ll be supported from day one by our dedicated team of ResLife Advisors.

  • From 6pm to 8am every day, including bank holidays and University closure periods, your ResLife Advisor is there to help you make the most of your time in halls.
  • Advisors are students and staff who live in halls with you and can help with anything from academic worries to settling in.
  • There's also the Counselling and Mental Health Service, the SafeZone app and Report and Support available.
