The University of Manchester India Scholarship

The University of Manchester India Scholarship offers more than £100,000 of funding to Indian-domiciled students for one year, master’s study at the University commencing in September 2021. 

Award details

University of Manchester India scholarships will be awarded in the form of a partial fee waiver.

School of Social Sciences Award of £5,000 for any SoSS master’s programme.
Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health

Two awards of £5,000 are available for master’s programmes in the School of Health Sciences.*

Two awards of £5,000 are available for master’s programmes in the School of Biological Sciences.*

Two awards of £5,000 are available for the following master’s programmes in the School of Medical Sciences

  • MSc Cancer Biology and Radiotherapy Physics, MSc Medical Microbiology, MSc Clinical Biochemistry, MSc Clinical Immunology, MSc Science Communication, MRes Cardiovascular Health and Disease, MRes Experimental Medicine, MRes Medical Sciences, MRes Oncology , MRes Reproduction and Pregnancy, MSc Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products

*Excludes distance learning programmes, part-time programmes and programmes with a duration of more than 12 months.

Faculty of Science and Engineering India Excellence PGT Scholarships

Award of £10,000 for any taught master’s programme taught in the School of Engineering.

Award of £10,000 for any taught master’s programme taught in the School of Natural Sciences.

Seven awards of £7,500 for any taught master’s programme in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.

Eligibility criteria

In order to be considered for the University of Manchester India scholarship, you must be a conditional or unconditional offer-holder for a University of Manchester master’s programme commencing in September 2021 that meets the specifications in the table above, by 30 April 2021.

For University of Manchester India scholarships in Alliance Manchester Business School, the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health and the School of Social Sciences, applicants will automatically be considered for the scholarship. There is no separate application form.

For University of Manchester India scholarships in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, applicants will be considered on academic merit and the completion of the FSE scholarship application form. The FSE scholarship application form will be emailed to offer-holders in due course and must be submitted by 30 April 2021.

  • Awarding schools/faculties will decide on scholarship allocation by 17 May 2021.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by 17 May 2021.
  • Selected candidates will be required to firmly accept their offer of a place by 31 May 2021 in order to confirm their scholarship. 

How to apply

For University of Manchester India scholarships in Alliance Manchester Business School, the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health and the School of Social Sciences, applicants will automatically be considered for the scholarship. There is no separate application form. 

For University of Manchester India scholarships in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, applicants will be considered on academic merit and the completion of the FSE scholarship application form. Global Futures Scholarship

The University of Manchester is proud to offer awards totalling £300,000 to international students, commencing their studies in September 2021. The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and master's students. 

Undergraduate awards

The University of Manchester is proud to offer ten undergraduate scholarships to international students domiciled in South Asian countries.

Award details

A total of ten A-level and IB scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence. These will be open to applicants domiciled in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. These consist of:

  • Five awards of £10,000 for the first year of study with a further £10,000 awarded in the second year of study, conditional on attainment of 65% average in the first year. Scholarships will be awarded in the form of an appropriate discount against published tuition fees.
  • Five awards of £5,000 for the first year of study with a further £5,000 awarded in the second year of study, conditional on attainment of 60% average in the first year. Scholarships will be awarded in the form of an appropriate discount against published tuition fees.

Summary of eligibility criteria

For the purpose of these awards, students will be considered from international fee-paying students domiciled in the following countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka.  

  • Applicants must have, or be, working towards either A-levels or the IB Diploma qualification and must be applying for direct first year entry.
  • Applicants for the South Asian awards must have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time programme at Manchester and must submit an online scholarship application form by 20 May 2021 with awards made following the confirmation of IB and A-level results in July and August 2021. The application form will be emailed to all relevant offer-holders.
  • Applicants will be considered for the award based on academic merit and the quality of their scholarship application.
  • Applicants must be self-funded (ie not sponsored).
  • Applicants for Medicine (MBChB) Dentistry (BDS) or Architecture degrees are not eligible for the award.
  • Applicants must have selected The University of Manchester as their firm or insurance UCAS choice by 10 June 2021.

Awards will be made following the confirmation of IB and A-level results in July and August 2021.

Master’s awards

The University of Manchester is proud to offer ten postgraduate scholarships to international students domiciled in South Asia.

Award details

Ten awards of £6,000 will be allocated on the basis of academic excellence.

Summary of eligibility criteria

For the purposes of these awards, students will be considered from international fee- paying students domiciled in the following countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan or Sri Lanka. 

  • Applicants for the South Asian awards must have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time programme at Manchester and must submit an online scholarship application form by 21 May 2021. The application form will be emailed to all relevant offer-holders.
  • Applicants will be considered for the award based on academic merit and the quality of their scholarship application.
  • Applicants must be self-funded (ie not sponsored).
  • Applicants for MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism (MA) and Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) , Clinical Medicine and Dentistry degrees are not eligible for the award.

How to apply

Applicants for the South Asian awards must have accepted a conditional or unconditional offer to study a full-time programme at Manchester and must submit an online scholarship application form by 21 May 2021. The application form will be emailed to all relevant offer-holders and awards will be made by 15 June 2021.

India GREAT scholarship 2021

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, The University of Manchester is offering eligible students one GREAT scholarship of £14,625 for master's courses in the School of Social Sciences (including Law) and seven GREAT scholarships of £10,000 for master's in the Global Development Institute, Geography, Planning and Environmental Management, Manchester Institute of Education and Natural Sciences.

The Manchester Science and Engineering International Excellence scholarships

The Manchester Science and Engineering International Excellence scholarships include specific awards for Indian undergraduate students worth £3,000 per year for up to four years of study.
