The University of Manchester India Scholarship

The University of Manchester India Scholarship offers over £100,000 of funding to Indian-domiciled students for one year, master’s study at the University commencing in September 2020:

Alliance Manchester Business School One award of £7,500 for any Alliance Manchester Business School master's programme.
School of Social Sciences One award of £5,000 for any School of Social Sciences master's programme.
School of Medical Sciences

A total of two awards of £5,000 available to offer-holders for the following master's programmes:

Faculty of Science and Engineering

A total of 13 awards of £5,000 for any master's programme taught in the Schools of Natural Sciences and School of Engineering.

Eligibility and selection

In order to be considered for The University of Manchester India scholarship, you must be a conditional or unconditional offer-holder for a University of Manchester's master's programme commencing in September 2020 that meets the specifications in the table above, by 30 April 2020. Read the full eligibility and selection criteria before applying.

For University of Manchester India scholarships in Alliance Manchester Business School, the School of Medical Sciences and the School of Social Sciences, applicants will automatically be considered for the scholarship. There is no separate application form.

For University of Manchester India Scholarships in the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE), applicants will be considered on academic merit and their completion of the FSE scholarship application form. Complete the FSE scholarship application form for University of Manchester India Scholarships and submit by 30 April 2020.

Awarding Schools/Faculties will decide on scholarship allocation by 15 May 2020 and successful applicants will be notified on this date. Selected candidates will be required to firmly accept their offer of a place by 29 May 2020 in order to confirm their scholarship.

University of Manchester India Scholarships will be awarded in the form of a partial fee waiver.

GREAT- The University of Manchester India Scholarship Programme 2020

The GREAT Manchester India Scholarship programme is a joint programme part-funded through the GREAT campaign and The University of Manchester. GREAT is a part of the UK Government’s campaign to showcase the UK as a GREAT place to study and do business.

As part of the GREAT Manchester India Scholarship programme 2019/20, The University of Manchester Faculty of Science and Engineering will provide one successful offer-holder from India a jointly funded scholarship of £10,000.

The University of Manchester School of Social Sciences, including Law, will provide one successful offer-holder from India, a jointly funded scholarship of £9,625.

Eligibility

Candidates must:

  • Be in receipt of an offer of admission for a full-time, one year master's degree in one of the programmes in the Faculty of Science and Engineering or the School of Social Sciences, including Law;
  • Be a citizen of India;
  • Meet the required English language requirement of the degree course.

Terms and conditions

  • The value of each award is £10,000 against tuition fees for the Faculty of Science and Engineering and £9,625 for the School of Social Sciences.
  • The award is tenable for one year only.
  • An award can't be deferred to a later year.

Application deadline

The scholarship nominations will be based on the programme application. If you are shortlisted as a candidate, you will be required to submit a separate scholarship application to the Faculty of Science and Engineering. There is no requirement for a separate scholarship application for the School of Social Sciences, including Law. We can't guarantee consideration for any candidate not in receipt of an offer of admission by 30 April 2020.

Selection criteria

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, achievement and potential and will be awarded by recommendation of the relevant Department.

Notification of results

The successful candidate will be notified as soon as a decision has been made in June 2020.

For the GREAT – The University of Manchester Scholarships in the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE), applicants will be considered on academic merit and their completion of the FSE scholarship application form. Complete the FSE scholarship application form for the GREAT Manchester India Scholarship programme and submit by 30 April 2020.

Faculty of Science and Engineering Indian Excellence Scholarships

The award: £80,000 available over three awards. The highest ranked student will receive £40,000 payable as £10,000 per year, for up to four years of study. Two students will receive awards of £20,000 each payable as £5,000 per year, for up to four years of study.
Who is eligible: any Indian student who can demonstrate excellent levels of attainment while studying the International Baccalaureate or Standard XII.

Three individual scholarships are available. These prestigious Faculty awards will be made on the basis of an applicant’s UCAS form. There is no special interview or extra work commitment involved.

Eligible candidates need to accept an offer as first choice from the University by Sunday, 30 June 2020 and the three successful applicants will be informed of their awards in July, providing them with valuable savings on their studies. Students will need to maintain satisfactory performance during their degree course.
