Chinese Students and Scholars Association in Manchester

The Chinese Students and Scholars Association in Manchester (CSSA-MAN) was established in 1982 and is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit organisation, which organises, sponsors and supports various social activities among Chinese students and scholars in Manchester.

CSSA-MAN is committed to developing unique and attractive programs and activities locally in Manchester. This enables Chinese students, scholars and other ethnic individuals interested in China to experience and enjoy a richer, fuller and more successful life in Manchester.

All Chinese students and scholars studying or working in Greater Manchester, as well as their families, are eligible for membership of CSSA-MAN. Members are required to register their names, affiliations, library card numbers (students only) and contact details with CSSA Manchester. Members are also entitled to participate in all activities organized by CSSA-MAN subject to booking and safety regulations.

The association is supported by the Education Section of the Chinese Consulate General in Manchester and has over 3,000 registered members with approximately 1,000 new students arriving in Manchester from China each year.

Members benefit from daily emails, an internal magazine or publications for special events, exchange programs on education, culture, technology and business, forums, exhibitions and conferences in the UK and China and parties celebrating Christmas, Chinese National and Middle Moon Ceremony and Chinese traditional New Year.

Tournaments of football, table tennis, basketball and badminton are also organized by respective clubs under CSSA-MAN. Day trips or overnight trips to many parts of the UK are also organised and at relatively low cost.
